I had decided to take advantage of the first warm day in a long time and go for a hike at my favorite spot...the Watauga Lake overlook. I was expecting to see a bunch of people out enjoying the nice weather but the area was eerily deserted. About half a mile up the trail it was as if I could feel someone or something staring at me. The hairs on the back of my neck raised up as I turned and caught a glimpse of something big and hairy, standing protectively over it's young. It made no effort to come toward me but judging by the stare it gave me If I had made even a step toward them, it would have devoured me. Frozen with fear I watched as the young hopped around, playing with sticks and rocks completely oblivious to my presence. I started backing away slowly down the trail. The male Bigfoot's eyes never left me, even for a second. When I was at what I thought was a safe distance away I took a huge chance and snapped a few pictures of the Bigfoot and it's young before racing to my car. I thought to myself as I sped away no one is EVER going to believe these pictures are real.
