I was born April 5, 1979 in a small Texas town and in a hospital run by my family. From the beginning I was a “Mamas Girl” not wanting to leave the comforts of her womb. I was two weeks late and my mom had to have a C-Section because I refused to come naturally. My birth was definately a family affair. My Auntie Remy was the OBGYN and my Granny was the nurse! Even though I was late, my parents still did not have a name ready for me. They were toying witn “Sapphire” but everybody had something else in mind. During the birth Teddy and Mrs. Mitchell (close family friends and employees of the hospital) thought I Should be named “April” for the month I was born in and “Joy” after my mom’s middle name. At the same time my Auntie and Granny were having the same discussion during the C-Section and the majority rule won! Thus I was dubbed April Joy into a close circle of family and friends.
