When I was pregnant, I anticipated that you would have some jealousy issues. After all, a new baby is a big change--for the whole family. But I never could have imagined that you would react the way you did. From the very first time you met Laila at the hospital, it was as if she belonged; as if she had always been.
Daddy held the two of you in his arms and my heart melted as you lovingly poked her in the eye & offered her some of your milkshake. And now, we’ve been at home for a month, and much to my complete &
utter delight, you continue to astound me with your endless love & affection for your sister. I constantly
find you laying next to her & giving her kisses. When she cries, you are quick to say “Uh-oh, Mama. Baby, uh-oh.” and run to come get me. If I don't come help quick enough, you take matters into your own hands
by gently patting her & whispering “Shh, baby.”
