"The day began as any other day. Your dad left for work. I decided to work on the hardwood floors. Mid-morning Ucle Richard came by for a visit (your Dad wanted him to check on me) Sitting down to visit with him my tummy got realy tight. Over the last month I had many false pains so I didn’t make too much of it. Uncle Richard left about noon and I got back to finishing the floors. You had other plans though. The pains were becoming regular, not stron but within minutes of each other. I called you Dad about 1:00pm in Vallejo and he raced home. He loves a reason to go fast! We got to the hospital at 1:25pm. When we arrived I was the only mom-to-be in labor. It looked like you were going to be the first baby of the new year. WRONG! A boy was born in the ER about an hour before you. So you were the first girl of 1979!"
