I made my arrival 6 weeks before I was expected. My mother had been in the hospital with a bad case of food poisoning, and I just did not to wait until after Christmas to come join our family. We lived in a very small community in Southern Alberta, known as Carmangay. How small? I was the New Years baby for 1975 AND 1976 ... and I was born November 19th!! But the nice thing about it being such a small hospital was that my brother got to stay with us in the hospital until we were all ready to go home. Of course, I don’t remember what it was like, because we moved back to BC, when I was two years old. I haven’t been back to the place I was born. But my big brother has been back since, when he drove truck. He said it is a retirement center now, and when he asked where the delivery room used to be, they asked how he knew it had been one, since it hadn’t been a hospital in such a long time ... so he told them the story of my birth.
