My son is starting to read, and I want to get some books to read with him this summer. What are some books that your kids enjoyed reading when they were first starting to read on their own?

I only have girls, and they are all older now (High School and College), but I know the Magic Tree House books are very fun when he gets to that age. Some of the books had a reading level number on them to make sure they are at the kids level. Maybe try some of those too.

You could buy some on his interests- Dinosaurs, Disney Characters etc, but don't be afraid to branch out and try something new too!

My kids loved watching Dora & Diego at that age so we had some easy reader book sets with Dora & Diego & I think some Clifford & Backyardigans too. Basically anything I thought they'd be interested in to counteract any frustration :D
