I know some of you have it and have/are doing it. DH got it for me today (yes, I should be insulted, but who has the energy?) and I need some shred buddies! I'm starting tomorrow and I'm nervous!!! Hold my hand and tell me what I need to do. More importantly, tell me if it works!!!

I tried it. It's very intense cardio. I prefer more strength training in my workouts so I didn't stick with it, but I still pull it out to use when I can't go to the gym.

I restarted this on monday, and I actually have a weekend "off" this week (aka no traveling) so I'm hoping that'll keep me honest to stick with it. This first time I started I only got 4 days in before we went away for a 3 day weekend, and then good ol' Aunt Flow showed up and I was just NOT into it. This time, I'm determined to power through. But, I've got a wedding dress to fit into as motivation (it fits just fine, but I wanna look HAWT in it, LOL!).
It's intense, but I love it. I want to punch Jillian in the face (which is awesome when you're actually doing punches, I just aim for her head on the tv :p) but it's worth it. You will be REALLY sore the first few days or so. And by the end of the 20 minutes, you're gonna be swear at the tv and want to give up. But I swear to goodness, by day 4 I wasn't huffing and puffing anywhere near as much as I did on days 1 and 2. It's amazing. I'm sure it's all in my head (cuz, I've only done it twice now this week, lol, so I haven't lost any weight yet) but I swear, I feel less jiggly already!
I like it because no matter what I have going on for the day, there's really no excuse to not workout for 20-25 minutes. I feel like I get a good enough strength workout from it for now (you use hand weights - if you have none use 2 water bottles, or 2 jars of spaghetti sauce or something). I'm hoping that I can stick with it and get into a groove of working out, and then I can kinda "move on" to using our bowflex and excercise bike instead.
I know Annie was doing it before (not sure if she's stuck with it with the craziness that comes with moving), and she said she lost a few inches after just 2 weeks.

I have ordered it on eBay, just waiting for it to get here. I've been running, but I don't have a treadmill and run outside. That is problematic because of the crazy weather here, so I think this will be helpful. I've heard it is hard, and intense, but I need that. I have a lot of junk in the trunk. LOL

I think Kyla has done it...hopefully she'll chime in here for you. If I remember correctly, she liked it:) Good luck!

lol I was reading reviews for it the other day (I always click to the negatives) and lots of people were complaining about the chick.. ^_^ I don't think I'll try it, I get super annoyed with women in work out videos. I'll stick to my tae bo haha.

I never stuck with it for the 30 day program, but I still do it about 1 a week as part of work out routine. It is a really good workout, great if you only have 20 min in the day to workout. I usually try to workout 40-50 mins a day, so I did something additional to it (treadmill or more strength training)

I'll do it with you Jennifer! I have it (and Col said it best already) but with trying to get this house market ready, workshops, kids and "stuff" I stopped. I need to start again though- I could stand to lose 15 lbs and don't have much muscle so this is good for both. :)
i have this too! i have 6 out of town guests arriving this sunday - so maybe i'll start this once they are all gone :)

I so need to get doing this again! I didn't see results because I gave up after day 3, lol. I did level 1 for 3 days, and I was limping, and my muscles hurt SOOO bad - my DH would seriously laugh at me cause it would take me up to 5 minutes to get up the courage and figure out how to maneuver myself off a chair, lol.
It hurt. Big time. But I liked it, lol... I can only imagine how much weight I could lose if I stuck with it - it is hardcore!!!

I did it for one day! Ha! And then I hurt for like 3 days. It seriously kicked my butt! But I need to start again. I'm going on vacay next week, so maybe I'll start after that. Good luck Jennifer!

I hated it in a good way... It hurt so good... etc etc LOL
My grand total was 1.5 inches off my hips and 2 off my waist. That was in conjunction with just watching what I eat, not really a strict diet or anything. But you've got to stick with it 1) All the way through the actual workout (no breaks) and 2) Absolutely every day. There's a line she says that sticks with me... "This doesn't come for free."
It's so true. :glare:
ETA: And if you do a workout and you're not feeling like you're absolutely going to die, you need to advance to the next level. :D

EEEK. Now I'm afraid. We're going to be out of town next week--wondering if I should start, then quit for a week, then start up again? Or should I just wait until we get back to start up? Decisions....

I haven't even been doing it that long, and I'm almost ready to move on to level 2. I've been doing level 1 with the "harder" options, instead of the easy ones, and it's starting to feel too easy.
Jennifer, just jump in! Get yourself into it, and then jump back in after vacation. The longer you put it off, the harder it is to get motivated!
I bought some 2lb hand weights today while in Target, so we'll see how good I feel tomorrow, lol. My arms are going to HATE ME.

I have it. I did a week of it. Again - it is the hurts so good and I want to b*tch slap Jillian. HA!
I just started running again Monday. The 10 pounts I lost in April, May and June have reappeared...UGH!
Just start. That's the only advice I have. I thought about it, contemplated running again, thought and thought and then I just did it.

I didn't want to buy weights until I knew if I was going to like it or not. So I've been using 0.5 lbs plates that Jordan has on the base of the flat screen (because he's OCD and a little crazy about electronics). So I'm pretty sure my arms are going to DIE with these 2lb ones, lol.

Kristin - I can't do the pushups... I have like no upper body strength and I can't do them from my knees because of knee problems... I do wall pushups or off the counter. It still works, and you still get your heart rate up, and you can feel it in your arms & shoulders.
LOL - Jillian makes me a little mad too... now I just tune her out. The first day I didn't think it was going to end and then she's like "MORE BUTT KICKS" and I literally yelled at my screen "I CAN'T DO ANY MORE FREAKING BUTT KICKS!!!!", lol. That was a sad day, lol!

Omg. Level 2 just killed me. But I know I have to stick with it, and soon enough I'll be moving on to level 3! We can do this ladies!!! :)

I saw 3 videos on amazon for $24.00 - not bad at all. Hmmm....I have about 10lbs I'd like to lose and I get almost no exercise. It would be so good for me but I would so have to commit to sticking to it. If I really could see some results in 30 days, I would be soooo happy!! Do you just do the same video every day for 30 days then move up a level or what?

The 30day shred is 20 minutes everyday. When you get comfortable in level 1, you move on to level 2, and then level 3. Each level has a modified version of some of the exercises, so as a true beginner, you do the modified level 1. Then you move to hard level 1, then modified level 2 if you need to, etc. It's a good system. I'll probably pick up another of her dvd's after I finish this, just to have some variety.

Oh the butt kicks!
It was the jump ropes that got to me on day 4 or 5. They triggered an asthma attack, too much cardio does that to me & she plows right thorugh the 25 minutes with no break. Not to mention my ankles were NOT happy.
I think my main problem with workout videos is I just get a bit bored watching the same thing over & over every time and when I get bored I stop making effort. I'd probably like it more if they recorded 3-4 versions of each level's routine so you could get some variety

Yes, Stacey - that's exactly what I was asking - do you do the same one every day? Looks like it from the responses. I get bored too and would like to think I could stick with it for 30 days. Surely I can...right? right?

That means you're doing it right Jen!! Lol!
Kellie, the levels are different exercises from each other but you do the same level for several days in a row.
Stacey42
07-23-2009, 08:51 AM
Kelli - there are 3 levels, so theoretically you do each one for about 10 days, depending on how you are doing with that level.
I'm going to do it today since the boys are grousing about going to the gym for the fourth day in a row and I need the cardio. The gym has had a bunch of free 'try this personalized class/training/workout' things this week and next week & I've been trying all of them :)

That's really fun Stacey! There's a gym right down the street from us, but we bought a bowflex 2.5 years ago so we wouldn't have to pay for a gym membership, LOL!
